Sixers trade Evans for Jason Kapono.

Well, that helps our guard situation and gets rid of a player who wouldn't have gotten any playing time for the Sixers.

It certainly makes Willie Green expendable. But makes me wonder what the Sixers are intending.

I assume they will want Brand, Young and Iguodala all on the floor at the same time. That would mean they also need a Center, Speights/Smith? and a point, Miller/Williams.  It doesn't seem that Kopono would fit with that line-up as the other guard.

I really like this trade for the Sixers.  Gets rid of Evans (thank God) and brings in the best 3 point shooter of all time, percentage-wise.  I don't care if he's overpaid and that he really can't do anything else, he's exactly what this team needs.

He is a 20 mpg guy.  It eases up the absolute need to swing for a bench wing shooter with the MLE.  They essentially traded one limited role playing asset for another one that is a better fit.  With Jason Smith and Brand coming back, Evans had no place to play and certainly no role in a Princeton type offense. 

Kapono is a catch and shoot three point specialist with no defense.  This does not interefere with Iggy or Thad, but should lessen the minutes of Willie Green. Any equally bad contracts on more useful players we could trade Mr. Green for?

I think the deal is a no-brainer.  We acquire a perennial best outside shooter and free things up for Speights and Smith to settle into decent bench roles. 

Now lets see if this rumored (by SF1976) sign and trade - Miller for Hamilton actually manifests itself.  Could be worth keeping an eye on.

That obviously is not the real SF1976.  He would never report something that stupid.  The Pistons are committed to Stuckey as their PG, and if they wanted Miller, they could sign him outright.  They certainly will not deal Hamilton and have not even considered moving him by all reports.
