Thus far Capitalism has turned out to be the most successful, at improving the quality of life for it's people. Unfortunately, as with all human endeavor, there are always a few who try to rig the system so the rest of us pay for them, and this system has become so corrupt that it doesn't even properly take care of business any longer.

In a Capitalist system, there is never any justifiable cause for a severe recession/depression.  It happens when countries are able to print money without proper backing. They keep expanding monetary aggregates, thinking it will last forever, but all they are doing is blowing up bubbles of debt.  Now the bubbles are bursting and everyone is finding themselves involved in the mess in one way or another.

Captilism is still the best. but this country is in severe need of an overhaul. It seems highly unlikely at this time that Obama can turn things around quickly depending exclusively on the private sector.
