The Jazz, who suck on the road . . .
« on: April 09, 2008, 09:46:27 AM »
. . . just dumped the MVP and his team in New Orleans. This is the second time in a row that DWill has outplayed Paul, although he didn't embarrass him like he did last time they met.

Anyway, the defensive intensity the Jazz are showing is very encouraging. They've allowed 130 points total in the last two games against the two of the West's top three. If they can avoid a couple of the West teams with dominant shooting guards (still their Achilles heel) I think they're going to go a long way again.

Definitely.  The Jazz get no respect, no mention of an MVP candidate, nothing.  They just keep winning.  If they beat teams like LA in the Playoffs, it won't be an upset.

Denver and Golden State are locked in a battle to be resolved on Thursday.  The looser will probably end up out of the playoffs. In all honesty, Golden State needs the draft pick more.

Rick, you just reminded me of a fun quote from last night's game recap:

Deron Williams had 16 assists and outplayed Chris Paul as the Jazz took a 20-point lead early in the fourth quarter and cruised from there. Williams then smiled in the locker room when he was reminded that Carmelo Anthony had told him during the summer that Denver was going to win their division.

"Carmelo, I?m sorry buddy," Williams said.

It's still not out of the question for the Jazz to take the #1 seed.
Unlikely, but they definitely have control of seeding in that they play both Houston and San Antonio.

The season finale may indeed have seeding at stake.
So much for resting.  I'm glad the game is in San Antonio.
