Phx at Philly, other notables this weekend
« on: March 28, 2008, 11:23:49 AM »
Tonight
Phx at Philly
New Orleans at Boston.

Time for Philly to make yet another statement rt.  Don't fail me now as the Spurs are almost tied with Phx and Philly can jump to #5 seed with a win.  The LA Flamers will also be pulling for Philly.  Dalembert should be able to play Shaq to a draw, how can Andre Miller do against Nash?  Igs should roast Grant Hill if they matchup.

New Orleans continues to make its case for West Conf regular season champs so lets see what they can do in Boston.  Pulling for Boston of course so the Spurs can catch both New Orl keep pace with Houston and The Collusionists.

Hou at San Antonio on Sunday as the Spurs can jump from #5 to #2.  Not bad after Maxie Pad had them buried after a 4 game lose streak. ;)

My obsession with the Lakers continues.

Exactly!

Sorry about that.
Ronnie and Sasha and Derek will be at Memphis tonight.
Jerry West has set up a spicey happy hour to welcome the team.

Revenge game for Phoenix who is finding the cream of the East a little tough to deal with.  The Sixers are in no mood to let any game slide, much less blow a shot to kick the butts of another elite team!  Besides, they are in serious need of wins in order to catch Washington and Cleveland.

Miller destroyed Nash the last time they played, Andre just posts him up, and Nash can do nothing. Sammy has turned into a decent defender, and I think the Sixers will try to get Sammy the ball for easy lobs.  They may try having Sam in the high post, knowing that he can fake Shaq and beat him down the lane.

Young will do the job against Hill, as he did last time.  Definitely gave the Sixers a big edge. Amare is the problem, but hardly any team can guard him. At least Reggie Evans will bother him.  If Reggie can't maybe Cheeks will try Jason Smith.

I figure that the teams will trade baskets for most of the game and at some point the Sixers will turn the screws, force a bunch of turnovers and easy shots and put them away. Phoenix still doesn't play defense well enough to beat good teams, which is why they are now looking at a possible third loss in a row.

Step you stalking up, they play at Staples tonight.

Personally I really don't care if PHX wins or loses tonight.  I think Philly / Cavs fans have more invested in tonight then anyone.  This could be an important win for Philly.

Spurs I don't think seeding matters all that much to them.

Memphis and LA are the same team for 2008. ;)  Jerry set up the happy hour for both of them.

True, to the Spurs seeding does not matter that much as they have proven they can win on the road.
But it still matters.  They would rather be top 4 then not.

Do you think Jerry put this into the works before of after George Bush planned 9/11?

I think they would rather have more games at home then not but I don't know if they are exactly praying to the basketball gods for a specific match up.

What was up with that 1st qtr?  Missed their 1st 12 shots, three of them blocked by Stoudamire?

Bad game for the Sixers.  Came out totally flat, and couldn't shoot a bucket.  Nothing to do with Phoenix.  They just missed wide-open shots.

The Suns just played their game, the Sixers were unable to stop them at all.  Late in the third, the Suns started missing their shots, and the Sixer made a little run, but the Suns were able to close them out with little trouble.

This is the second game where they have come out this way in recent times.  The Sixers had the same problem with Orlando. (Also a revenge game)  Maybe the Sixers aren't so tough after all.

Xs3 and Lurker and all,

While the Spurs disgusting choke job on March 17th in San Antonio vs Boston, a 22 pt 1st half lead and 9 pt lead with 5 minutes to play with 32 pts by GNob whizzed away to a 93-91 loss was gagging.....

The way Boston has been outscoring the other West leaders including New Orleans last night, the blown Spurs lead game just shows to me how there is no "large gap" between Boston and the Spurs.  Or medium gap.  Tons of hoop to be played just to get to the Finals, but should it come down to Spurs-Celtics i say bring it on.  Would be a tough series but hardly an unwinnable one for the Spurses.

WoW you were making some sense on Boston vs Spurs also.

Spurs will be well rested for Sundays game vs Houston. :D
