If you watched the Sixers/Heat game on Saturday, you wouldn't think about making that comparison. While Wade is an amazing talent, he is not quite MJ, not by a long shot. And Marion, for all the impressive things we've seen him do, did a disappearing act being guarded by Reggie Evans and Thadeus Young.
Shawn had 4 pts. 6 boards and 4 assists in just under 40 min. Not even close to what Pippen would have been able to do, if we really could warp time.
The Heat may become a bit better in time, but really they are worse off now than the Sixers, even though they have Wade. Although Wade had 33 pts., It was Igoudala who took the game in overtime, when the Sixers were down by one. Iggy took the ball out of Andre Millers' hands and drove to the basket, making the shot, and drawing a foul. Sixers went up by 2, the Heat missed and Igoudala made a Layup. After another Heat miss, Andre got fouled and closed out the game with 2 more free throws.
If Marion was Pippen he would have stopped Igoudala. If Wade was MJ, he would have made those shots down the stretch.
The Heat probably had to do something so you really can't criticize the move, but without Shaq the Heat have no inside game and no real Center. They would have been better served trading Shaq to Phila. for Dalembert and another player or two.
