However, you are mistaken.  I know those teams much better, having the opportunity to watch them play many games.

I know a good team when I see one.  I was talking about the Sixers and making a case for them long before anyone else. This team will be much better than the old one.

Whether they do as well eventually is the question, since the NBA overall is much better than it was in 2000. There is more parity in the league and an abundance of good teams.

Right now the Sixers are still probably at least one good player away from getting to the finals.  A stud power forward who could play with his back to the basket, and give them 20 and 10 would get them there, if he could be added without subtracting anyone. They are also lacking in experience, so they are probably two seasons away from a real shot at a title.  But once they get there they will be back for a couple of years.
