Detroit
« on: June 03, 2007, 08:49:04 AM »

Perhaps some Larry Brown haters are now seeing the light.

Also, how much did Joe Dumars drop the ball in the 2003 draft?  (I do think Darko is improving under the Magic system.  But c'mon, look who Dumars passed on.)
1. Cleveland LeBron James
2. Detroit (from Memphis) Darko Milicic
3. Denver Carmelo Anthony
4. Toronto Chris Bosh
5. Miami Dwyane Wade
7. Chicago Kirk Hinrich
8. Milwaukee
(from Atlanta) T.J. Ford
11. Golden State Mickael Pietrus
21. Atlanta
(from Indiana) Boris Diaw
28. San Antonio Leandrinho Barbosa
(Traded to Phoenix) = huge ball dropper for Spurs.
29. Dallas Josh Howard = ditto

IMO only Bosh and Anthony were bonified blunders, didn't hear much about Wade until later in the season.

concur.  And don't think I'm pimping all the rest.  Altho many besides Bosh Anthony and Wade would have helped.  Anywho even if it was just Bosh, Dumars dropped the ball bigtime.  I drafting is always 20-20 but nonetheless, it's a big time balldrop.  Where do you put Pistons with Bosh?

Actually several other players in that list were no-brainers.  In particular, TJ Ford and Kirk Hinrich.  Along with Wade, and for that matter Nick Collison, appeared in the Final Four that year.  They were known commodities and Dumars talked himself in to a pig in a poke.   Frankly, it is the ugliest slap in the face of American college ball players.
