What a game tonight, Congrats to the Jazz
« on: May 16, 2007, 01:41:22 AM »
If this game was any indication of things to come, the Spurs better put on on their pads because Sloan is going to let the dogs loose now to quote JoMal.

This was as tough, physical, and Jerry SLoan style a defensive effort as I have seen in recent years and to tell you the truth, I may have to rethink my position that Utah has earned the right to get spanked by either San Antonio. Kirilenko had the kind of game that you only dream about for a defensive specialist, the reason I was so big on him when he first came into the league, 15 boards on 8-12 shooting with 3 steals MORE than made up for his 0 blocks and his presence in the post was clearly driving the Warriors front court nuts.

Williams miserable night was more than made up for by Fisher's 3 pointers and tough defense, this was a war boys and girls, a war that Utah managed to dictate the pace of brilliantly, props to the Warriors for even keeping it close till the end. The problem for Golden State is that they started to get frustrated by Utah's closing off the lanes and their own ice cod shooting from beyond the arc, live by the 3, die by the 3, 6-30 is dead on arrival. Stephen Jackson continues to live up to his rep as a thug and a punk, funny how I did not see it that way when he was bombs away on Dallas.

At any rate, props to the Warriors for their post season and their monumental upset of Dallas, too bad Nellie hasn't figured out that that style of ball will NEVER win you a ring.

Major props to the Jazz for their poise against Houston and their ability to play 2 very different styles of basketball, this bodes well for them in theWCF, and I will now officially say GO JAZZ!!!!!

Not enough can be said about the coaching of Jerry Sloan and how tough his team is in every sense of the word.  Mentally you could see they were poised, confident, and forced their will on the Warriors.  Physically you could see exactly how tough guys like Boozer, Harpring, Fisher, Milsap and Okur (He was banging in the paint yesterday!!!)  were with the people guarding em.  Boozer especially was tossing around Stephen Jackson like a rag doll.  Major props to our resident Jazz fans for their squad getting to the WCF.  They are going to have their work cut out for them in the next series with either squad that ends up but with what I've seen so far I don't think the gap between the Jazz and SA/PHX is as big as one would have assumed going into the playoffs.  They really have grown in the playoffs into a very entertaining and scary squad.

The Warriors just could not handle Boozer or AK.  Although we all should give our non-existant GS fans props also.  They went from not making the playoffs to bouncing the best team in the league to learning what it takes to win in the second round.  They have alot to learn and I thought this was an excellent year, bounced from the 2nd round after that thrilling 1st round victory or not.  Hopefully they click a little bit better now and don't try to play 1 on 1 on 1 on 1 on 1 ball.  With the players they have if they really got to know each other they could get more layups/dunks instead of jacking up 3s.

I think Utah can give Phoenix fits, their defensive ability and their ball control tempo is similar to the Spurs and if Sloan can keep the pace down, Phoenix is very beatable by Utah, they are big, physical, and have a defensive lunatic in Kirilenko that not even SA can throw at them, they will control the glass although Amare is much tougher in the paint than they have faced thus far and wil definately make them work, Williams (except last night) is deadly in the pick and Boozer can bang with the best of them, if Utah plays their style and forces that style on the Suns, they will win.

SA presents problems insofar as they play a mirror image brand of basketball to Utah, but they are better at it than the Jazz, and they can get just as physical and have something Utah has ZERO answer for, Tim Duncan, Utah will struggle in the post becasue of him and they absolutely MUST win the battle of the boards, which again, SA is their equal if not their superior. Derron Williams will have his hands full with Parkers speed but he is 15 lbs heavier and plays very good defense, IMO Utah has a shot at the Spurs but it will have to be a war, SA is proving to be very physical this post season and Utah, always a physical team, will have to really step up.
