Roy ROY
« on: May 02, 2007, 01:05:43 PM »
Brandon Roy was just announced as the NBA's Rookie of the Year.

Obviously, that's no surprise.

He received all but one first place vote.

So what's the next question you ask?  Obviously, it's "So who got the other vote?"

Well, don't look on NBA.com.  Don't count on the media to put the results of the voting up.  I can't find any of that stuff ANYWHERE.

This is part of the reason that the NBA needs someone to come in and completely re-design their web site.  Go there, and try to find a list of the post-season award winners.  It's not as easy as you think - and CERTAINLY not as easy as it ought to be.

And here's the link for what I'm after.

http://www.nba.com/news/awards2007_rookie.html

You know how I found it?  I finally found a page that had the 2006 awards.  I went to the ROY page of that year.  Then, I substituted 2007 for 2006 in the URL.

Can't find the 2007 awards, though.

Now, I'm going to go do the same thing with MVP to see if they've got the 2007 one posted yet.  That would be HILARIOUS.

Under the previews (pictures) when Roy is featured there is a link to "2007 Award Winners".  But I agree the NBA site is nasty to navigate.
It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave.  Keep on thinking free.

A broadcaster for Toronto voted for Bargnani.

Congrats to Brandon, he deserved it.  Easily the best rookie, most consistent, best overall numbers, helped his team improve by 10 wins.  Actually he would be middle of the pack when compared to the last 12-15 ROY.  He has a very bright future.
A third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. A second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. A first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking.

A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself.

I wonder what Danny Ainge thinks about this...

He did play pretty well this year and he can only go up from here.  Once his body is in NBA shape and he gains that experience he will be a solid player for years to come.
