Whoo hoo, Tigers win.  Take your small victoies when you can get them.

I made a good call on Jeff Weaver as well. 5+ innings no earned runs, puts the Padres at deaths door.
A third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. A second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. A first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking.

A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself.

I would like the Tigers' chances at this point if Kenny Rogers weren't starting tomorrow's game.

Did you guys see that Detroit rookie reliever Joel Zumaya?

:hail:  :hail: Blowing 103 MPH heat past Jeter and company.
he's from San Diego baby.

zig I was behind home plate.  Props to Weaver, but idiotic non adjustments by Padres.  Weav throwing nothing but curves.  Mo-ron Pad brain trust instructed hitters to wait for fastballs that never came.  Oh and Botchy electing to pitch to Pujols again with 1B open.

I like the Tigers chances if they can win today.  Critical for Kenny Rogers to pitch well.  I like the match up tomorrow of Bonderman vs Wright.  Sinday, if it gets there would be Robertson vs Wang, and I am not as comfortable with that one.

As far as pitching to Pujols or walking him to pitch to Rolen.  I didn't see it or the highlights, but what I understand Pujols came up with a man on second in the 4th scored tied 0-0.  In that situation I pitch to Pujols also.  It is not like the next 2 hitters are crap, Rolen and Edmonds can hit.  That early in the game, you need to pitch to Pujols.  Edmonds drove Pujols in anyway.  if it was 0-0 in the 7th or later, then yeah I would probably walk Pujols, but not in the 4th.
