Bettis rescued from GOAT
« on: January 15, 2006, 06:12:00 PM »
Unbeavable ending.

He just went from Goatiest of All Time candidate to comical sidestory.

Was Jerome Bettis just full of himself, seeing his name in lights as he Bussed thru the endzone or did he owe the gambling lords?  Holds ball one armed like a loaf of bread while Colt helmets ball loose.

Only to have Indy with 2nd and 2 at the 28 (46 yard fg attempt).  Instead of picking up the sure 1st down and more yards, lets hork it upfield on 2nd and 3rd down.  Instead of giving Vanderjact a more chip shotable kick of 30-35 yards they forgo getting the 1st down.  Gambling lords?

Bettis should've wrapped the ball tighter by using two hands, but it was a GREAT play by the Colts defender.  He put his helmet RIGHT on the ball, which is the easiest way to jar it loose.
