Hey everyone
« on: August 26, 2005, 10:35:31 AM »
Google has some nifty new software out there.

http://talk.google.com

this is thier new IM program, what makes this different from the others?  well it is still i beta stage, and it does not have all the bells and whistles as the other IM, but it has a really good VOICE program to basically  call your online buddies and speak online - the quality of sound was pretty impressive.  Again it is still a beta but I am sure they will add on soon.

htp://webaccellerator.google.com

basic web accellerator, it caches frequently visited sites and helps to load them faster, some of you might want this, other not, if you can't get it from the google site - they may say they have enough beta testers - you can look at softpedia and find the program.

also if you want to look up online video

http://video.google.com

download the player, type in a search for whatever video you are looking for, SOME videos are playable, a lot are not, but you can come across some interesting uploaded video online.  I typed in "dave chapelle" and found some playable skits from him, and "alien autopsy" - and the freaking prank video was online as well.

also something to be on the look for in the future - and these are all rumors at this point, but so was everything else google has done so far - google is apperantly in the works of creating an Operating System to compete with Windows - big goal IMO, it is going to be tough when most programs out there are designed to run on Windows, but who knows maybe it will be popular enough to get vendors to design on whatever Google creates.  the code name for this project is "Puffin" not much news on it except for the fact that it ties into googles new search bar download.

Another rumor is Google is planning to unveil it's own web browser, and online music store, and is even sd to be buying up equipment to go Wi-Fi....interesting stuff.

Yea I downloaded this the other night and the voice to voice chat feature is very impressive.  I was speaking to a friend of mine in Florida and it sounded as if we were on the telephone together.  Perfectly clear.

If you have relatives or friends in other states or even other countries this is the cheapest way to go honestly.   Unless of course you already use VOIP in your home.

   - PTHPTHBPTHBPTHB!!

It's is the fact that it would be a a Google Browser D....jeeeez!  j/k

W/K:  yes the VOIP software is sweet, very clear, i read that Google IS going to try to connect with actual phone phone servcie somehow using you GTalk...wonder if it will be a pay for service or not.  Still the fact that you can talk to anyone that uses the program for free is sweet....oh yes And I read up that you can play your music via the GTalk software as well WK.  google up some stuff on it, you'll find the pages, you can also find a way to open multiple operation at once with it.  you could stream your audio and talk at the same time if you wanted to...pretty nifty.
