Ouch - Tough Break
« on: August 02, 2005, 02:34:08 PM »
So Willie Green and the 76ers agree to a 6 year, 20 million $ deal a little over a week ago.  CBA disputes hold off the official date FA's can sign.  Willie goes to work on his game, tears his ACL playing pickup ball.  Willie Green now doesn't get offered said 20 million $ contract on first day FA's can sign.

Ouch.  All because of CBA negotiations.

Wow, that's a tough break -- but this IS something that he will recover from.  Philly doesn't think that another team will take a chance on Willie's recovery?  I mean $3 mill a year isn't much in todays NBA.

He's still a restricted free agent.  So even if someone offers him a contract, we can match.

Wonder if he was going hard or just taking it easy?  Or did someone go Artest on him like MJ and Ronnie.

Green must be sick about this.  While I do not want to rub his face in it, he probably has beat himself up enough, let it be a lesson for all others about to sign their 1st biggie.  If its a couple weeks away....Chill.

This is terrible news for the Sixers, I was hoping for Willie to become more of a part of the team this year.

It also is a problem for Willie himself not just for the money but also for his development as a player.

I suppose this benefits John Salmons on the team.

Dabods, have you hard anything about what the team is going to do with Aaron?  They barely used him last year, and he seems to be done.
