Larry Brown announcement
« on: May 31, 2005, 02:24:01 AM »
I love the timing of the announcement.  Oh and its by "league sources".  What the ___ is that?  I thought league rules prohibit such an announcement.  Oh wait this is the NBA.  Rules are strictly arbitrary.

What a croc.

If Brown wants to leave thats his business.  Shut the ____ up whoever blabbed this to the media.  Screws up the Pistons chemistry big time.  By design IMO.

Larry Brown loves the spotlight, and sometimes unfortunately it's at the teams expense.

He did this same thing his last year with the Sixers, when the North Carolina job came open.  He shows interest, doesn't deny it, then after it becomes a full-fledged controversy says that the only place he wants to coach is <insert current team>.  He said those exact words his last year at the Sixers, then weeks later left for Detroit.

It's Larry's thing.

Oh no I know it's his thing and really I'm not surprised he's doing it.

My beef is the timing of the announcement*.  Thats bogus.  Shouldn't it be made the day after the Pistons season ends in either a loss to the Spurs in the finals or now a loss to Miami in the current series?

"League sources" blab the move   :nonono:

*not to mention it got you a game closer in the picks B)

Get a grip Reality, you had no beef when the media rehashed 3 month old Laker news just before the all-star game and Finals last year.
"History shouldn't be a mystery"
"Our story is real history"
"Not his story"

"My people's culture was strong, it was pure"
"And if not for that white greed"
"It would've endured"

"Laker hate causes blindness"

This is Exaclty why I don't like Larry Brown.  Doing this while his team is in the fight of it's life is the mark of a completly selfish, inconsiderate asshole. :moon:

Where is Larry's sense of loyalty?  His character in finishing something BEFORE starting something else?  Why isn't anyone ripping him for this very apparent flaw in his character.

He has done this time and time again, not only in Basketball, but in his personal life.

Likes to bail out of situations just when things start looking tough.

If this is a motivational tactic then someone should re-think it.  I couldnt see what the hell he is possibly thinking by doing this, AGAIN.

larry has done that with every team I think, I cant even remember if he was fired from the Spurs or if he left - given his MO, I think he left for another job as usuall, all that aside I still like the guy as a coach.  too bad he cant make a home for himself anywhere...
On the set of Walker Texas Ranger Chuck Norris brought a dying lamb back to life by nuzzling it with his beard. As the onlookers gathered, the lamb sprang to life. Chuck Norris then roundhouse kicked it, killing it instantly. The lesson? The good Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

I don't have a problem with him leaving.  This time I think he's serious.  He's not going to Cleveland to coach, just be president of basketball operations.

It's not the leaving, because he's quitting coaching.  But the timing is despicable.

Not the timing of the announcement.  You shouldn't even be DISCUSSING a job at this point.  Not with the media, not even with the cavaliers.

Isn't it technically NBA illegal, tho never enforced, for such a discussion?

In which case I would agree, dispicable.  However if Brown does not bail to the Pistons and perhaps never really did talk to "league sources' (his non denial is pretty weak*), but if surprise he didn't, the leakers should get a thorough reeming.
*Whoa.  Updating.  His denial is very strong.  Video stream if it works:

Guess all we can do now is wait and see what happens after the Piston season ends.

Incidentally have you seen Browns wife?  :eek2:  ^_^
Did she marry him for his coaching ability?

Yes, Shelley Brown is amazing.  Larry definitely played that game the right way.
