malone a spur today????
« on: December 15, 2004, 02:11:38 PM »
A buddy of mine writes for an online site on the nba.  he says around 5p cst the spurs should announce karl is a spur - this is from one of his "sources."  I ond tnow the source, i dont know if it's reliable, i dont even know if this is true or not - I know that karls agent contacted RC to arrange a chat between Pop and Malone this weekend - Pop said he only needed to know from Karl what he wanted to do and Pop would make it happen IF he wanted to be a spur - it was left up in the air from there.  This news would be huge!  especially since it would keep Malone out of the hands of the Wolves and the Heat.  Maybe he will be OUR curse this season, maybe we will break HIS.  we'll have to wait and see what happens today around one ....

let's see, it's not Aprils fools day, so i will be pretty dissapointed to find out this isnt true, if it doesnt happen, after my buddy said it was gonna happen.... :eek2:
On the set of Walker Texas Ranger Chuck Norris brought a dying lamb back to life by nuzzling it with his beard. As the onlookers gathered, the lamb sprang to life. Chuck Norris then roundhouse kicked it, killing it instantly. The lesson? The good Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

One source quotes that Brent Barry is leaving Spurs.

I can't imagine the Spurs dumping Barry if they were to get Karl Malone.  It should be obvious that the two offer a similar style of play, and should mesh well together.  Malone needs a player like Barry, and Barry will play better with a player like Malone.

Barry is a lot like Jeff Hornacek in many of the important ways, and it was Hornacek's signing that moved the Jazz into contention.  That drop-dead shooter - even if he's not looking like it at the moment - that Barry is becomes the space Malone needs to operate, as well as the outlet for when he DOESN'T have space.

The Spurs have to be patient with Barry.  This isn't the kind of player you want to give up.

Of course, Popovich's offense is far from a good fit for Malone *OR* Barry.  It takes the like of a Tim Duncan in order to flourish in it.  (Put Duncan in a good offense, and he's a 28-to-30 ppg scorer.)
