Let me throw my congrats in as well.  I absolutely LOVED what the Spurs did both this year and last.    It's absolutely amazing how Duncan   and Ginoblli have adapted their games to their aging.

Also, Duncan has announced he will return.   If they can keep Diaw away from the victory buffet and Leonard takes another step forward they might be favored to repeat!

Nice to hear from you all as well.

Absolutely brutal night for Ginoblli.   Far and away the worst game I have ever seen him play.

It was an entertaining game though.

Zombie jn smash!!!!!

Looking forward to it and or course pulling for the Spurs.  I was really surprised by there sweep of the Grizz.

We know Lebron is going to be huge.  The question is all about the rest of the team.   We also know Wade is going to put up some numbers.  The question is whether he explodes from beginning to end of the series.  If he only plays alright by his loft standards, the Spurs have a shot.

On the one hand, it's amazing.  On the other hand, it's not all that surprising because it's Duncan.   We've always known he was a smart guy so it's no shock that he has taken care of his body and adapted his game.  In a way it's a shame.  This is just another example of Timmy not getting the same love as some flashier players.  In this case it's not just because he's a quiet guy in a small market.  He has spoiled us.  Because he's Tim Duncan we expect him to do the right things and just keep going out there and playing well.

The one downside I see is that he doesn't have much explosiveness around basket anymore.  He's not completely used up like Patrick or Hakeem at the end of their careers but he can struggle to finish and defend against younger guys.  Per my response to Randy, that will be a major liability against the Grizz, much as it was against the Thunder last year.

Hey Randy,

This has been an entertaining playoffs, hasn't it?  Much more than I expected.  Like you I have been pleasantly surprised by teams like the Warriors and Rockets.

One thing that should be mentioned with those teams is the coaching.   McHale's record as a GM was a mixed bag at best he actually did a decent job with the Wolves after he fired Dwayne Casey and he looks like a great fit for the Rockets.  I was critical of Mark Jackson a few  years ago when he was openly begging for a head coaching job in spite of having no coaching experience.   He seems to be proving me very wrong.

I am not sure the Pacers would be any better with Granger.  He's a fine player but Paul George has absolutely flourished in his absence.  Not sure that would have happened if Granger was there and still the focal point of the offense.  At the very least he would have needed to surrender some touches.

The dark clouds overhaning all this are injuries and the Heat.   I thought the Heat would win anyway and with the injuries to Westbrook and Rose, (not to mention Hinrich, plus Dengs illness) means this could be a cakewalk for them.

The Grizz strike me as having the best chance of beating them.  Tony Allen is as good as it gets on defense and even an aging Tayshaun has something to offer when it comes to slowing LeBron and Wade.   In addition, Gasol and Randolph are out muscling Ibaka and Perkins and the Heat don't even have that level of interior strength.

That said, I could see the Spurs digging deep and making one last stand and making the finals.

Think about the outpouring of admiration, sadness and gratitude when Buss died.  Now imagine what happens when Sterling dies.  I imagine a lot of Angelenos will start taking grave dancing lessons.

I will say this for the current Clippers.  I went to see them play the Wolves a month back and they are hot enough to have some bandwagon fans here.  Not many but they were there.  There were a few guys in my section calmly cheering for them and one leather pant wearing drunk skank right next to me shrieking for them.

Plus just think about what a pop culture punchline the Clippers have been over the years.   I think it was summed up nicely in a Simpsons episode where the Marge and Homer end up with a tennis court.  They always lose, leading to one of the cops referring to them as "the LA Clippers of backyard tennis."

NBA Discussion / Adrian Peterson is not human!

Do not test him for steroids or human growth hormone.  Take a DNA sample and let's prove for once and all that he's some sort of super being from another planet.   Less than a year after a terrible knee inury he comes back and carries the Vikings to the playoffs and comes up a mere 9  yards short of setting the single season rushing record.

This in spite of the Vikes pitiful passing attack that means there ALWAYS 8 or even 9 men up at the line who know he's getting the ball.  Simply unbelievable.

NBA Discussion / Return of Rubio!

Been meaning to post an early season analysis of the Wolves but have been too lazy.  For now though, another injury to Love (sprained thumb) is offset by the Rubio making his return to night.  I'm ecstatic!

Even in a win last night they gave up 55 points in the first half to the Wiz.  Just doesn't sound like they are playing any defense.

Well, there you go.

Not sure Bickerstaff is much of a solution though.

Hmmmm....I know it can be tough to bring a lot of new people together but you would think having Steve Nash running the show would be enough to overcome any familiarity issues.

I think I speak for a lot of MN sports fans when I say my immense respect for Jim Leyland and Justin Verlander is not enough to counter my loathing of Delmon Young.   I am far less passionate about baseball than I am about other sports but if that guy gets a world series ring I might need to see a therapist.

Thanks LF, that helps.   I hadn't factored in the size of the tires in terms of handling.   It wouldn't be a big issue since I don't have the intention of becoming a real hard core off road rider.  They would be more of an issue in fighting throught the ruts that form from snow and ice during the worst of winter, plus the potholes.

Also checked out a Marin 29er with a simple two speed internal gearing set up.   That's another option.

I'm thinking about getting a Raleigh XXIX drive belt 29er for use in winter and perhaps starting to ride off road a bit more.   Are you familiar with this model or drive belt bikes in general?   It seems like it's a great way to go if you're looking for low maintenance, which is important for me in winter.  I'm sick of having to fight slush, rust, etc on the cheap mountain bike I currently use in winter.
