As a subscriber to ESPN the Magazine I just want to inform y'all that there is a monster article on MJ in the current issue...access it any way you can. It is worth the effort!

Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to see if there is ANYONE I know who has a subscription to ESPN the Magazine who could access it on line and repost.

He was a big reason I won my Fantasy league. He was pretty solid from a yardage standpoint even though he didn't get as many TD's as I had hoped. Of the 16 players I drafted, only AP, Brees, and some barely average WR were still on my team in the closing weeks. AP broke some monster runs a few times, it was fun to watch.

I have yet to actually watch more than a quarter of Lakers b-ball, but everything I see and read says th Lakers are horrid. What is going on? I thought they would struggle a bit out of the gate while they learned to play as a team.  Also figured they would struggle without Nash and while learning the new system. I had no idea it would be this bad, it's like the first year after Magic retied or the year after trading away Shaq.  I don't understand how a team with so much talent can suck so bad, they are contantly getting run off the floor, what gives? How does this Lakers team battle the Spurs down to the wire then get punked by the Cavs?

Anybody watching their games have any answers?

WTF was Orlando thinking?

The Houston trade seemed like a much better fit, they would have cleared off more cap space and got a lot of young talent and draft picks to develop. I don't get this trade at all for the Magic.  The Magic were holding all the keys to this trade yet they are the ONLY team involved that did not benefit from this deal.

As a Lakers fan I couldn't be happier, I was ready to jump off the band wagon at the thought of losing Bynum AND Gasol to get Howard.  The deal that was circulating early on was the Lakers would give up their twin towers and end up with Howard and Harrington.  I missed all the news of Friday because I was working  till 3 a.m. Thursday night/Friday moring.  But I started readying about the Howard move later that day but thought it was more Dwightmare talk and had no idea it was a done deal.

No need to analyse what is being analysed to death on the net, but I will say that I have not seen a better Howard defender that Perkins over the last 5 years. I think the Lakers/Thunder matchup will be the one to watch with the Lakers getting the edge. Nash improving the offense and Howard erasing a lot of the on-ball defensive liabilities the Lakers showed last year.  I think the Spurs are also in HUGE trouble when facing the Lakers.

The Heat were the favorites to win next year, I would lean towards them as well before this trade as the Thunder don't seem quite ready to topple the Heat all-stars.  I think if the Lakers make it out of the West they would take the Heat down in 6 games.  Still, the Lakers need to time to mesh since there is a new general running the show but IMO they will at least be able to rely on their defense with Howard in the mix, just hope Howard is healthy when he suits up for the Lakers.

I will also be very interested to see how Bynum does as the first option and foundation of a franchise.

Since you have an inside track to DraftExpress  , I was wondering if you could find out a few things for me.  What is the exact formula for Player Passer Rating (PPR) within the player stats page?  Also is this measurement the same or different from the one used by 82games.com?  Also is it possible to get a download of all the player stats within their database in an Excel format?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate any help you can provide.

Excel? That is for babies...are you not going to analyze the stats? You would be better off getting the stats in Access or SQL.

All I can say is WOW!

People like TD don't come around very often, especially in professional sports. What an amazing gesture on his part to help his team. I know others have taken pay cuts in the past but nothing close to the massive cut TD volunteered to take.

My favorite coach of all time, IMO the greatest coach of all time, all due respect to Chuck Dailey, Larry Brown, Rivers, and Pop. Have no idea about coaches pre-1985 so my opinion could be off.

Now Riley is becomming the greatest GM/Coach ever! As a pure GM, "The Logo" is the GOAT, but as far as a guy who has been sucessful in both positions, Riley is unequaled IMO. He pulled off the Shaq robbery from the Lakers that got Miami a title, although technically the Lakers did parlay the Shaq trade in to two championships. Then Riley reloads the Heat with LeBron and Bosh for another title by being the closer at the pitch meeting. Now Riley is convincing great talent to hop on board the championship express and take a reduced role along with a reduced paycheck.

My Laker bias has just reawakened and informed me tha Mitch has actually done better, he has just as many titles and never let the Lakers drop to the lows that Miami has hit. While it may make Mitch a better GM, I don't think Mitch is the closer that Riley has shown to be recently, if he was Dwight would be a Laker already or Bynum wouldn't have the "I don't care if I'm a "Laker" attitude. Plus Mitch can't take the reigns of the team once he realizes Mike Brown is a horrible coach.

He was extemely talented but was a big dud until he went to Jersey where he got to show his talent. Too bad he was gone right after he broke out.
