NBA Discussion / Re: The Long, Slow, Sad Decline
« on: October 24, 2012, 11:09:57 PM »
Hey everyone:

I know I'm not one of the original crew, and haven't been terribly active on these forums. But I've really enjoyed the fantasy league -- it's one of the more competitive leagues I've every played in (and am proud of the fact that I've basically destroyed Ted most years . . .).

Anyway, I don't know if things truly have declined to the point of not playing, but there are only 5 teams signed up in the league and the draft is supposed to happen this weekend.

Would love to have any/all of you back in for this season . . .

Cord (Jerry Lewis)

And one other thing -- could you send out the reply via the Yahoo league messaging? I'm not getting replies from this forum for some reason (I used to). I"m not going to be around for the draft, but would see any message on my phone. That way I could alert my bro if indeed you decide he's worthy of inclusion (ha-ha).

Gracias . . .

No worries. You decide, Derek, who you want in. It's your gig. I just need to tell him either way with the draft only a few hours away . . .

Who has contact with these people?
Derek -- thoughts on my brother as replacement? No pressure here -- just saying he's interested if there's a need.

My brother is interested -- he would be very active, involved, and is at least as knowledgeable as Ted (which, I suppose, is not saying much).

Got it. So I'm keeping Ellis and Jefferson . . .

Derek:

I want to keep Monta Ellis and Al Jefferson.
FYI, Ellis doesn't appear on the Keepers list, but I drafted him last year, so I'm assuming he has 2 years of eligibility left (my keeps last year were Billups and Melo).

Let me know if I'm wrong . . .

Fantasy NBA League / Re: 2010 Draft Recap

Does anyone want to assess my draft? I simply couldn't get online (was at my bro's wedding). Overall, it doesn't look TOO bad for an auto pick team, but I know I'm light on proven bigs . . . Any feedback would be welcomed.

And again, I'm very open to trading Carmelo. Let me know if you have interest . . .

Cord, it's next Saturday.

Hmmm. I knew it was originally Sat, but then I thought I saw it changed to Sunday.
Anyway, it will still be tough for me on Sat. But no worries . . .

And is the draft next Sunday for sure? If so, I won't be able to make it (on the road to my brother's wedding). But not a big deal, I suppose -- my team was autopicked last year.

I think I'll grudgingly go with Carmelo and Chauncey

Right.  If you trade someone, you're essentially declaring him your keeper, and you can only trade even for even (1 player for 1 player, 2 players for 2 players, etc).

Okay, thanks.

Derek:
Remind me again of the rules regarding off-season trades -- it's only keepers than can be traded (or, by trading a players, you're essentially declaring them a keeper) -- is this right?

I'm looking to trade any of these 3:

Carmelo Anthony
Chauncey Billups
David West

Let me know . . .

Fantasy NBA League / crappy player updates
« on: February 17, 2010, 02:38:32 PM »
The player updates this year seem to be particularly poor--either very late in communicating information/injuries, or simply bad information. Check out this update for Chris Kaman today regarding his performance and how it supposedly corresponded to Marcus Camby being traded AWAY to Portland:

Tuesday Feb 16
Kaman scored just four points on 1-of-6 shooting in Tuesday's loss to Portland. He added eight rebounds, but turned the ball over seven times.
Recommendation: The newly acquired Marcus Camby did not play, so Kaman's poor night can't be blamed on adjusting to life with his new frontcourt mate. He'll look to rebound Wednesday against the Hawks, which should be our first look at how Kaman and Camby work together.

All I can say is "wow."

Don't know about The Road the movie, but there are few better books I've ever read. It will leave you thinking for days after you've finished it . . .
