Philadelphia 76ers / Re: Ed's Conference Call Minutes

If that means he's not picking up a basketball all summer then I don't really think they should try too hard to extend him right now. That may work when you're younger but eventually that will catch up to you.

I'm just saying that's probably what he's basing it off of. Detroit was definitely the better team IMO.

FWIW Atlanta got completely destroyed in the games they lost. If PJ Brown doesn't have the 5 minutes stretch of his life the Cavs go to the ECF.

I think he's basing it off the fact that the Cavs looked better against Boston than the Pistons did.

And, BTW, I love the fact that this is a one-year deal.  If he ends up not being effective, it's not a loss.  And, hopefully, Smith returns in a year.

Miller/Williams/Ivey
Igoudala/Green/Rush
Young
Brand/Evans/Speights
Dalembert/Ratliff/Smith

I take it with the Ivey/Rush signings that Gordon is out of the picture for us?

Do you mean Jamont Gordon? I think there's still a very good chance we sign him.

Assuming typical raises:
$10,561,500.00
$11,670,457.50
$12,779,415.00
$13,888,372.50
$14,997,330.00
$16,106,287.50

Total: $80,003,362.5

A little higher than I had wanted, but could have been worse.

If it's actually $72 million then it would look like this right?

$9.6
$10.56
$11.52
$12.48
$13.44
$14.4
$72

Which is basically the $57 million offer with a 6th year added onto it. I'll take it.

and a .341 career OBP is not getting it done for a guy with limited power.

Everyone can't be superstars. He gives you league average hitting at a light hitting position plus he'll steal some bases at a decent rate. I'm fine with him.

Darko is the only one in the top 5 of his draft that hasn't made an all-NBA team yet. The other 4 are playing for Team USA, #6 (Kaman) is playing for Germany, #7 (Hinrich) started for USA is 2006, and #8 (Ford) when healthy is an above average point guard.

Meanwhile Darko is playing 24 mpg in pretty much the worst frontcourt in the NBA

Miller would be a great fit in LA, probably the best point to pair with Kobe.

Disagree. With as much as Kobe handles the ball Miller's effectiveness would be limited. Much like MJ, Kobe's perfect backcourt mate is someone that doesn't try to do too much with the ball and can catch and shoot from 3 off of Kobe's drives. Fisher is a great fit as long as he keeps hitting them from long range.

so you're saying you watch the games?  ;D

He has gotten gradually better at taking care of the ball in these last two years. His last 3 months his A/TO was 2 or better, culminating in April when it was a very impressive 6.1/1.8 (While scoring 20+ a game)

I really didn't see his TOs as a major issue as the year went on, except for obviously against the Pistons.

Google broken jem?

1.31 last year, 1.38 the year before, 1.29 career

There was a time where I really valued PPS but it's flawed in that if you miss a foul shot you don't get any penalty. TS% is much better.

So when Miller isn't in the game we need someone that can handle. Like Iguodala.

HE should turnover the ball less?

I don't understand what you're trying to say

The more I think about it, the best realistic option might honestly be Louis Williams. If you told me I would be saying this two years ago I would have called you crazy, but if he gets a little stronger and Cheeks instills in him to pass more I could see him developing into a starting point in this league. Certainly one that looks to shoot more in the mold of a Parker or a Billups, but still someone that can play point. Plus he's cheap.

Maybe then you deal Miller in a S+T to get the shooter we need and sign a big backup PG with the MLE.

Mike Bibby has had two straight down years. He would have been perfect 5 years ago but now he's pretty close to done.
