I'd think Scola would warrant a shot at the four. Maybe Battier goes to the bench.

The point of the debate was simple, really. Someone said Iguodala shouldn't be paid a certain amount because he "never" played the SG position. Like, never ever. And to be a good SG, you had to be able to come off a screen and hit a jumper. One just wasn't true, the other, at least IMO, seemed very miopic. Iguodala can improve his jumper. The fact he's not a top-flight jumpshooter as of yet doesn't mean you don't pay him for everything else he does extremely well AND bank on the potential that he can become at the very least an average-to-above-average perimeter shooter.

The other thing that was interesting was that Ellis was being used as the measuring stick. He "is a SG", someone said. Iguodala is not and can't make the switch. Funny thing: Ellis' % from the behind the arc is much lower than Iguodala's, and Nelson is moving Ellis to the point.

It was the 2, but it wasn't REALLY the 2.  ;)

Apparently Aaron McKie was the SG as well.

I'd take Chandler over all of them. And I don't totally trust Biedrins numbers, partly because he hasn't proven to be consistent. He'll have a run of games where he's getting five to six boards a night, then have 16.

The SG position is easier to replace. I don't believe the same can be said for what Andre Iguodala can do from the SG position, however.

Yes. That's pretty much all he does.

Okafor is a nice big man, but he is what he is and will be. He's at his ceiling. And there are more people like him than some would think. I'd even say that almost every team has an Okafor-level of big man on their team, some with more upside. Iguodala, at least IMO, hasn't come near to his ceiling, and is a potential All-Star player. There aren't as many Iguodala-type players in my estimation. So to me, he's at least as valuable, if not moreso.

I'd call being able to change uniforms seven times in a career pretty versatile.

2) The question of Iguodala being a better basketball player has nothing to do with his "market value", IMO.

I was referring to your hypothetical, homicidal pickup game scenario.

I'm not sure Okafor's deal affects Iguodala's all that much. Different players, different positions. Iguodala's the better basketball player, though, hands down.

The Clippers are looking strikingly familiar to the Nuggets.

His second year, pretty much all of his starts were replacing Maggette, with Maggs coming off the bench, Mobley at the 2 and Ross at the 3.

True, but I was just referring to this past year. I think Ross is a nice player, but I see him as more of a luxury than a need on this particular team, given who they already have on the roster. The crop of SF's in the East are relatively bigger in comparison to those in the West, and I'd prefer a bigger player (Diawara?) to help fill out the roster.

I thought Ross started at small forward for the Clips. They had Cassell, Mobley, Ross, Brand, and Kamen when he started. He covered small forwards night in and night out. Coach Dunleavy said he started over Magette because he was the best defender on the team.

Most of the time he started, Maggette was in the starting lineup at the 3. There were only a handful of times both Ross and Mobley started together.

I'd like someone with a little bit more size than Ross. With two guys who can already do what he does (defend the 2) and the possible addition of another player at the position in Rush, I'd rather find someone who can handle SF's a little better.

I think he was a biker-gang dude that was in with the Aryans on Oz. Ironic.
