NBA Discussion / Will I Turn Into JoMaL Light?

"Among the names filed for according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office's website were: Anaheim Royals, Anaheim Royals of Southern California, Orange County Royals and Los Angeles Royals. The filing was made March 3 by attorney Scott Hervey on behalf of the Crickets Corp., a Nevada-based company."

The Lakers will always be my #1 team but I work just a hare over two miles away from both Anaheim stadiums.  Can't say that I wouldn't jump at the chance to go to a lot of 'Anaheim Royals' games depending on who they happen to be playing.  Especially when you factor in so much talent going to the east it is nice to have three chances to see the Heat, Knicks, Magic, Celtics, etc.  Plus the Lakers driving to me instead of me driving to them two times a year  :D

AI breaking Jordan's ankles.

Also one of my favorites!  If that wasn't a perfect display of "New Vs Old" I don't know what is in the NBA.

I also forgot Reggie Miller DESTROYING the Knicks after Spike Lee called him out.  I could watch that video on youtube over and over!

Ill go with ones I remember pretty well, in my life time.

- Kobe's 81 point game, which people mistake as some kind of ball hogging event even though they were down 15 points before he went off.

- The tip out by Vlade/Shaq to a wide open Robert Horry to win that playoff game

- Michael Jordan's hand switching lay up against the Lakers in the finals and his shot against Byron Russell in the finals

Heres another:

The Miami Heat are 0-9 against the top 4 teams in the league (standings wise)

NBA Discussion / Re: Spurs dream season finally hits a bump...

fwiw Kobes said the score could have been reversed on any given game between these two and that both teams know this.
I dunno about that but yes the Spurs have at least built a standings cushion and i guess technically they are 2-1 vs the Lakers.

We know many an NBA player parties/has 14 girlfriends.  Does this extend to the Spurs and were they at some blowout last night?
Biggest goof i saw was on help/no help defense.  Lakers throw ball down to Bynum (or Gasol, or Kobes).  Spur guard/sf decides hes going to drop down and double.  No wait, he's staying on his man.  No not that either.  Just stuck in between in lala land with head up bum.  Lakers make simple pass to WIDE open Laker who drains shot while said Spur is caught in lala land no where near shooter.

Its like either double or don't.  Lame!

Yeah I don't think the Laker win yesterday all the sudden means that they are light years ahead of the Spurs.  That could just as easily have been the Lakers taking a thrashing.

The spacing and the rebounding were extra bad last night.  Just like you said a lot of guys were stuck in limbo. That is not something you ever see with a Greg Popavich coached team.  It looked like they just got back from playing a back to back out of town.

Lakers 99 Spurs 83

Some of the most pathetic defense the Spurs have ever played.

Props to Lakers for hitting shots.

Better for Pop if he can avoid Phil in the playoffs.
Better if Mavs took out the Lakers.

One of the strangest Spurs games I've seen in a long time.  After the Lakers got out to an early lead I got worried.  Well coached teams usually will fight back into a game after time passes but that never happened with the Spurs last night.  I was waiting and waiting for that Tony Parker sparked 10-15 point run but it never took off.

Now I don't want to chalk this up to them pushing out a lot of energy this year to lead the league in the standings and staying ahead the entire season thus far but I don't know what else it could be.  Both Duncan and Blair didn't seem to have the energy/legs to rebound well.  Bynum was eating Duncan's lunch on the back board it seemed last night.

I think Bosh is full of crap for saying this (and Juann Howard).  No he doesn't have to have blind loyalty to LeBron but get real, where would Miami be if it didn't have LeBron?  Where is Cleveland without LeBron?  (Ask Joe).
LeBron won't let it affect his play but Bosh and the team chemistry/unity?  I don't think this is over.

Miami won the title in the last decade.  They would still have Wade if Lebron was not there.

Chicago has been irrelevant since Michael Jordan left and now they are a contender.  With out Rose they have....Deng.

I don't want to jump in between an argument of millionaires vs billionaires.  What I personally care about is when they make the NBA a bit more affordable for us fans especially those with families.  If they were lowering prices across the board in order to lower the prices for fans, I would be all for it.  Since they are trying to lower what they pay the players in order to maximize their own profits, I don't support it.  I also don't support the players trying to go for BIGGER pay days.  We've gone the last 10 years with the Eric Dampier's of the world making entirely too much money.

What were the Jazz thinking?

I don't understand trading away Deron Williams for Devin Harris and Favors. Even with draft picks I don't get it because Deron is still young.  I didn't even know Deron Williams was on the trading block at all!

Also, I think New York would have been better suited getting Deron to team up with Amare than getting Melo.  Maybe that is just me though.

Koast, don't forget Chauncey Billups. He's getting older, but he is a stud and a winner. The Knicks just got real, real fast.

I am a huge fan of Chauncey but his days are numbered.  I also think that D'Antoni really needs a PG who can shoot well and make the right passes for his system to work like it did in PHX.  Not that Chauncey can't do that, he certainly can, but he is on his way out.  I was thinking 2-3-4 years from now.  Deron/Amare in D'Antoni's system would have been fun to watch.  I doubt they would win titles but at least they would be fun to watch.  When is the last time any of us said 'The Knicks are fun to watch!'

I don't care for Devin Harris.  I can appreciate his speed but if he was a talented point guard he wouldn't get bumped from place to place to place.  I think it is too young to say what Favors will become and of course what they do with the pics.  Being a huge D Will fan I think they gave away more than they got back but we will have to wait to see.

The unmentioned biggest loser in all of this?  Jordan Farmar.  He stated the reason he left the Lakers is because they were not giving him a big enough role (starter / heavy minutes) even though he waited and waited.  Well, looks like he is going to wait and wait some more.

NBA Discussion / Re: Sloan to resign?!?!?
« on: February 11, 2011, 10:11:36 AM »
So what I heard on talk radio was different than what was being reported every where else so I am hoping someone can clear it up.  Mike And Mike in the Morning were saying that Deron Williams was upset because Sloan wasn't giving it enough energy and working the team hard enough.  He didn't want Sloan to leave but he felt like Jerry was not putting 100% into the team.
