Figured I'd make a topic about this since we still have plenty of space on our roster and it's likely we bring in a few guys with a legit shot to make the team. One name that stood out to me that didn't get drafted was Dionte Christmas. I'd imagine we'd get him if we had any interest. Anybody else good to slip through the draft?

I'd take a chance on Josh Heytvelt in the summer league. To me, he's got a little Brad Miller feel to him - decently skilled big who could have a nice career. He's had some off the court issues (shrooms, etc) but that didn't scare off Ed with Sean Williams!
I'd look into Jerel McNeal - I like him as a combo kind of guy in Jordan's offense.

Jasner reporting that the Sixers have offered Christmas a spot on their Summer League team. This year, we are sharing a team in the Orlando Summer League with the NJ Nets. Last I heard, the Rocky Mountain Revue is no longer running.

we have a team in vegas.

Really? That goes against prior reports. If so, that is a good surprise.
I have enjoyed watching the web casts of the Vegas league- and particularly would be excited to see how Jrue, Speights and a rehabbed Smith perform.

They are not listed as having a team this summer:

Maybe they were just added (I hope?)

All good suggestion everyone. But, even though we got our PG in Holiday. I really would like a invite for North dakota State's Ben Woodside. I know they report he had a bad portsmith showing. But man, he college stats are great. And what he did to Bill Self's Kansas team in the NCAA tournament, and that Defense was really Impressive. The kid may be as white as snow, but he is super quick, and a good passer. In a open type of offense, maybe he won't be much. But, in a princeton
type of offense, with his shooting ability from the 3Pt line, he might be that off the bench Diamond in the rough.
I mean what harm can it do to take a look at the kid ?

Jrue will fit well next to Lou, or AI ::)

huh. i guess we don't have a team in vegas.
my bad.

With only 60 players in the NBA draft, it makes sense that there are a lot of talented players who didn't get drafted. I'm a little disappointed the Sixers don't take a flyer on a couple of kids that slipped through the cracks and field their own summer league team. It seems like a cheap way to evaluate a lot of players for NBA potential.
Particularly when it comes to big men the Sixers are weak, although I would argue that we have the power forward position well stocked with Brand and Speights. It's hard to believe that there isn't someone out there who wasn't drafted who couldn't outplay Dalembert!
Since Center is our weakest link, I don't understand why the team isn't doing more to find one.

The draft eligible centers were a pretty sad bunch of stiffs this year.
-
Agreed. Top to bottom this had to be the weakest center draft I can ever remember. Usually there is a nice sprinkling of possible solid back-up types in the late first to early second round, but this year was pathetic. I guess the cycle swung pretty fully from last year's draft that was chock fill of centers and good sized PF's.

The majority of which probably should have gone back to college for another year.
