NBA Discussion / Stick a fork in 'em!
« on: June 13, 2014, 11:25:21 AM »
DISCLAIMER: This post IN NO WAY means I am jumping on the Spurs bandwagon, I'll leave that to other "fans" :) . I'd almost root for dallas (almost) if it meant lafawnda janes and christina bosh lose in the Finals, that is THE ONLY reason I am so happy right now! and the way they are losing is just icing on the cake.

That said:
Strong fundamentals, a very unselfish starting 5 and an EXCELLENT bench will win just about every time, I have not seen such crisp passing in a long time, Leonards performance was a sight to behold and Chalmers COULD NOT STOP Parker, actually no one could. You don't have to stop lafawnda janes, you just have to shut down Wade and that over rated weasel Bosh and boom! The way the Spurs controlled the boards, was IMO the key, +6 on the O side and all but 3 of those resulted in second chance buckets, 2 of them 3's. On the D side they were plus 11 thereby denying Miami some serious second chance points. If they had a weakness it was turnovers, but Miami only converted about half of those I think. San Antonio is too balanced for a team surrounding 3 cats too big for their own britches, I LOVE IT!

Jerry Buss died today, great loss to the NBA, between him drafting Magic Johnson and the Celtics drafting what's his name, they brought the NBA from obscurity to national prominence

NBA Discussion / Preseason
« on: October 25, 2012, 10:45:43 AM »
I think I have made it pretty clear in the past I past I don't take much stock in preseason games but even still, 0-7?!?! The only team without a win thus far? I know there is an adjustment period with all the changes made but LA is made up of seasoned veterans who know the game and it is simply unacceptable to not be able to put together some wins together, I know it is very early but what are some thoughts here?

NBA Discussion / Miami versus Pacers

Question: Will the abdominal pull on Chris Bosh affect Miami's chances against Indiana? I say no because Chris Bosh is an over-rated no defense playing nobody that is NO THREAT down low.

Just my never humble opinion

We do not know the details of this case, although I am sure their are plenty of judges and juries ready to convict without all the facts at hand, I have done all kinds of searching on this story and it appears there is at least some truth to the story but I will reserve judgement till all the facts come out.

HOWEVER, if this story turns out to be accurate and true and this guy is a punk who would choke a woman, I hope they lock is sorry behind up and melt the key! I

I am SSOOOOO glad the McCourts are out of there! Even more glad Mark Cuban didn't buy them (I would have ceased being  baseball fan right then and there), so very glad Magic did. I grew up practically in the shadow of Dodger Stadium and Chavez Ravine, maybe now we can restore some pride to a team decimated my selfish money hungry jerks that never cared ONE WHIT about the team! The O'Malley's never should have sold them to begin with.

Not that anyone ever posts here anymore (which is a shame IMO) but the nonsense spam ads made it difficult to even look here to see if anyone posted a topic worth discussing

Again, thanks

NBA Discussion / Andrew Bynum
« on: March 17, 2011, 10:54:49 AM »
If this is what this cat can play like when he's reasonably healthy, then he has no rivals in the NBA save Dwight Howard.

This kid is playing like most of us felt he could and the trade talks have become (for now) a thing of the past. The most incomprehensible trade in the NBA in quite some time, at least on the Boston side, just assured LA that should they face the "Kelts" in the Finals (my hope) they will not have the length or the inside presence to beat LA over 7 games. In fact, the way they're playing right now, I don't think any team has the length to beat LA, they can absolutely suffocate any team in the post defensively and overwhelm them down low on the other end. And a huge factor has been Bynum's play in the paint, his aggressiveness, his rebounding, his freethrow shooting, since the break he has been dominant, and his facial expressions tell me he is a man on a mission.

Still, every time he goes up for a rebound I cringe just a little bit.

NBA Discussion / Terribly called game last night
« on: April 20, 2010, 09:46:01 AM »
Both ends of the court but Denver got the lion's share of bogus calls in their favor, the 4th quarter was an absolute joke! Playoff basketball should not be called that way, it was a physical but not really a chippy game, Utah was getting mauled in the paint but any little touch foul on the end was getting called. Now I am NOT saying it was a conspiracy because quite frankly if I believed that a certain team was foreordained to win it all or even a given series by the powers that be, I would be an utter moron to follow the sport, I would be an even bigger moron to follow the sport and whine like a girl about that conspiracy on a sports forum.

This is not to say there haven't been questionable INDIVIDUAL efforts to influence a game, and that home teams don't get some good old homecookin', and superstars don't get superstar pampered treatment (thanks for NOTHING Jordan!). However, games like last night were nothing more than perfect a example of ridiculous over-zealousness with the whistle or just plain incompetence, not some "design" to get Denver past Utah, nothing more, nothing less. And guess what gang? The same thing applies to when the Lakers play! And Phil Jackson laments bad officiating like every other coach does! And Kobe gets the least favorable superstar treatment of them all! I, and every single other fan on this board or anywhere else would be IDIOTS to follow this game if we believed otherwise, we might as well follow pro wrestling where the outcome is predetermined, at least then we would have no illusions about the sport being a farce.

Sorry guys, I had to get that off my chest, my big, massive muscular chest.
