NBA Discussion / LAL vs. LAC
« on: March 14, 2013, 04:50:12 AM »
Hey, y'all!
As as Tinseltown resident, many of the talk-shows that are broadcast nationwide are familiar to me since they emanate from here. One of the favorite topics of discussion on these shows is whether LA is the Clippers' or Lakers' town. To me, this is a laughable non-issue...'Lob City' ain't won nuttin' yet!

NBA Discussion / It was pretty over the top
« on: March 01, 2013, 10:40:31 PM »
Hey, now! :)

As the self-proclaimed resident Lakers fan on this board (sorry Dan - lol), I feel qualified to pronounce this judgement. The LAL are the most successful NBA franchise in modern history, without question. But is this all attributable to Jerry Buss? Methinks not! Jack Kent Cooke, Bill Sharman, Jerry West, Pat Riley, Mitch Kupchak...all were instrumental to the decades-long dominance that has been the signpost of the LAL. The reverence that has been given to Buss is somewhat much, IMHO...it's not like he cured cancer, IMHO!

NBA Discussion / This is so cool

Hey Laker FanDan! :)

Before pontificating on 'King James', let me tell you how cool it is to hook up with you after all of these years! As James Brown exclaimed, "I FEEEEEEEL GOOD!":D

I am watching the Heat vs. Wolves now, so I can't comment yet - hang on, I'm coming!

NBA Discussion / Why the hate/disrespect for LeBron?
« on: March 01, 2013, 11:42:56 AM »
Hey, y'all:
I have a hard time with all of the criticism that is leveled at LeBron, despite all of his athletic prowess and accomplishments. What's up with that? It is so reminiscent of the era that the 'Big Aristotle' dominated when he was in in his prime...no matter what, he can't do right. :\

Personally, I don't have a problem with all of the means athletes use yo enhance their performance - it's called progress! Let them take all of the HGH, steroids, the Cream, the Clear, whatever Balco and their ilk can conjure up. What is the limit? :l

First of all, my Simpson juicer finally died after 11 years of daily service - I blame you! lol :)

I'm back - any board is only as interesting as its participants. We had such a diverse, informed group in the olden days...let's bring them all back with interesting posts!

Howdy, y'all!

It has been a long time since I accessed this board - so many life changes have occurred that intervened in my particpation here. Even now at 4AM in Cali I feel pressure...not what I expected out of life at age 57. Youngbloods, enjoy every second...after 50, it's all downhill. Seriously, take heed - just being real :l

Hey Reality!
Do I know how that can eff you up...talk about it! It is sad that we do not have 20/20 foresight in any areas of life. Remember always, pride is the enemy - subsume it whenever possible. Word to the mutha...aloha, brah!

Hey Ted!

No doubt that entropy is the fundamental principle of the cosmos - I have to basically agree with your declaration (long, slow, sad). However, I do not accept it! My son is graduating from Penn State lawe school at the top of his class in May- YAY! Anyone associated with this board as long as you have knows what effort I put into this kid to get him to this point. He is my legacy! :)

NBA Discussion / LeBron no longer LeBrick
« on: May 12, 2011, 01:36:44 PM »
Hey reality!

The old guard (Lakers, Spurs, Celtics) is gone now ~ it's difficult to envision anyone defeating the Heatles fo the Championship. I have an upcoming post somewhat related to this happenstance...stay tuned.

LeBron killed it in the 4th quarter last night ~ the victory was obviously very gratifying (maybe a little ealy for such drama) to him.

These playoffs (?!) have made me familiar with players I've never heard of or forgotten about like no others that I can recall..

NBA Discussion / Lakettes in disarray
« on: May 12, 2011, 01:25:28 PM »
Hey reality!

I don't have a problem with your remarks ~ the LAL were swept as I predicted early in the series. Between the dissension amongst teammates (read 'Kobme'), the 'aging Kobe' syndrome  (includes DFish), lack of depth, and the poor coaching of Phil, they were doomed. Bynum's meltdown merely put an exclamation point on their confusing, rustating season.
For those who think Bynum's suspension was not sufficient punishment, a $700K fine for a flagrant~2 seems pretty heavy to me ~ even if you are making $14.2M/year, that's a chunk of change.
That foul was nothing compared to Kevin McHale's takedown of Kurt rambis back in the day ~ and rambis got up and was ready to square off with McHale! They made 'em tougher back then...no lying on the floo every time a foul occurs. That non drama really bugs me.

NBA Discussion / I'm ashamed
« on: May 06, 2011, 10:40:00 PM »
Hey Reality!
I can't believe I'd forgotten Ginobili...he has played at a high levl for an extended period. That is the main reason that the injury-prone Yao Ming isn't on my list...can you imagine what he and that Russian guy Arvydas Sabonis that was on the 'Blazers in the '90s if they could have been healthy for the majority of their careers? The freakish size of the 7-footers virtually guarantees that they will be physically fragile in some way...btw, whatever happened with Sean Bradley? This old geeezer doesn 't remember.
