NBA Discussion / Bulls steal #1
« on: May 22, 2008, 01:06:55 AM »
What an AMAZING development in Secaucus with the Bulls grabbing the top spot from the Heat and Sonics.

And the concensous choice for that pick is either Rose or Beasley, with both players able to fill big needs for Chicago. A great scorer in the frontline commanding extra attention or a true floor general, a the Paul/Deron type.

The knack on Beasley is that he'll be lost on D against NBA PFs and does way too much on his own (And do we really want the Bulls with even less defense to become the Nuggets East?) Not sure there's a real knack on Rose, at least none I've read of.

So since you're the most knowledgeable group when it comes to the game get me your opinion. Who is the better fit for the Bulls, who of these two has the better upside?

And yeah, I know few of you care about the Bulls, and that makes you less biased than people from the Bulls boards,so please give it a try anyway ...

... and boy what a ride it has been. Skandery gave us a great series that went all the way to the final games on the final day.
Props to him for making this so tough I had to stay up until 5:30am yesterday to make the final lineup adjustments)

After playing from behind for the past 8 days, some miracle did save our season and lead the Vienna Visionaries to their first ever Fantasy League title ... and in such a great, active, and competitive league it's truly something special !

Yea, the miracle: with us down 5-6 before Wednesday, down by 3 in blocks and by 1 in TOs, we needed to turn to unlikely heroes - since, as expected, Dwight and Amare hardly played. The five-some of Peja, Dwight, Maxiell, Noah, and Battier combined for 6 blocks (2 by Peja !!! early, forcing Skandery to act) and only 3 (THREE!) turnovers (two of those by TO-machine Dwight in 12 minutes).

And by the time Rudy Gay recorded his 5th giveaway for Archangels midway through the game, celebrations started all over Europe. gosh, I wish you could have seen that, people dancing through the streets from Rome to London, from Paris to Moscow, and of course all over Vienna ...

So once again, thanks to everybody for being very helpful in the early goings here, and hope to see you again next season for some title defense ...
 ;D

(btw, was getting ripped for drafting Monta Ellis, Peja, and KMart's body early, but they all were huge part of this run with great consistency. On the other hand, keeper Deng - you expected - and 2nd rd pick Felton - nobody expected - were complete busts. Who would have predicted ... )

NBA Discussion / Big Ben gone to join LBJ
« on: February 21, 2008, 04:02:31 PM »
The Bulls just traded Big Ben and Joe Smith to Akron Cleveland for some warm bodies in Hughes and Gooden.

Wow. I mean geting rid of Wallace is huge, but bringing in killer Hughes and and Gooden ???
Hope that's addition by substraction ...

Any takes ?

NBA Discussion / Are the Celtics for real ?
« on: December 08, 2007, 02:16:47 AM »
I won't get to see them play where I am,not even on tape delay,so I ask you: are they really that good (and a shoe-in for the eastern finals) ?

I know 16-2 sounds awesome ... until you look at opponents win percentage.

The only teams better than .500 they played so far are Nuggets, Lakers, and Warriors (all W's at home) and Magic (L on the road) ... and we might count the loss at Cleveland too, which still had LBJ and a winning %.

For my part, i'm not convinced yet they can beat the real top teams (like for examply ANY of the division leaders, which they haven't played so far). What you think?

Fantasy NBA League / Bobby Simmons, a farewell ...
« on: November 05, 2007, 05:33:30 PM »
I can only do my one at the time.  I screwed up BIG TIME.  Bobby Simmons was my BIG sleeeper for this draft and I totally forgot about him, didn't even prerank him.  I would have picked him around round 8 but I screwed up big time.

Bobby just didn't feel right on my roster. Every time I looked at him I could see it in his eyes: "This is not where I want to be. I know you pay me, you play me, but that's not home for me".

So now he's on his way home ... and that look im his face when I got him the news, is something i will never forget. It's making someone totally, completely happy. Man, I wish you all could have joined that special moment.
 ;D

Of course he'll starts to be a completely different Bobby now, reverting to a 25ppg scorer from the bench, with 2 steals and 45% on triples, but that's ok. He wouldn't have done it for me, anyway. Guess sometimes life is larger than the game.

Thanks Mr. Simmons for what you've done for us  ... and enjoy playing for the JIHAD now !
 :)
