NBA Discussion / 2012-2013 Fantasy Season
« on: October 23, 2012, 10:58:12 AM »
Sent out an email to everyone involved in the fantasy league last year, and set the draft for this weekend.

If you want out, we need to know ASAP.

If you're back in, sign up ASAP and declare your keepers.

Thanks.

We need to get the fantasy league going.  Decide dates, times, ect.

Interesting read (even if you're not an EPL fan)

http://www.thepostgame.com/commentary/201102/if-epl-clubs-were-us-sports-franchises

I'm actually a Liverpool fan, because when I chose a team, they reminded me of the Cards (primary color is red, lots of success, best player in the league is on the team, ect). When I think Arsenal, I think Red Sox.

NBA Discussion / Barkley on Amare

"What do you call a Power Forward that averages 7 rebounds per game? A Small Forward."

And if you throw in no defense?

To think, I used to be an Amare fan.  What a disgrace.

NBA Discussion / What it is to watch Timberwolves basketball
« on: October 28, 2010, 12:17:12 PM »
Your team opens at home against the Tyreke Evans-less Kings, and your best player notches a double-double *at halftime*.

Your team goes on a run in the 2nd half while your best player rides the pine, but when the run stops, and your team is desperate for a bucket or an offensive rebound, your best player stays on the bench.  "Stellar" defenders such as Michael Beasley - who isn't doing anything offensively - remain on the court.

Final score: Kings 117, Wolves 116.

Minutes breakdown:
Ridnour - 31:47
Ellington - 28:42
Milicic - 23:32
Beasley - 34:17
Tolliver - 28:24
Love - 23:37

Well done, Kurt Rambis.  And screw you.

I'd heard about James' partying ways before.  It makes you wonder if he'll ever take the game seriously enough to reach his ceiling.

Fantasy NBA League / 2010 Draft Recap
« on: October 24, 2010, 03:49:59 PM »
How'd everyone like their fantasy draft?

Really liked mine, as I picked up seven of the guys I targeted in the first eight rounds.  Only Eric Gordon in the 7th didn't slip to me.

Love the core of my team (the first eight players).  It's versatile, it can go big, it can go small, ect.  I mixed in youth (Evans, Love, Wall) with veterans (Duncan, Bogut, Lewis, Odom), so if the team doesn't pan out, I've set myself up for next year's keepers (something I didn't do a year ago; too much of a veteran-heavy team).

The only pick I really regret was Darko over Ibaka in the 12th.  Didn't realize Ibaka was left, and that's my mistake.

Some of the late-round targets didn't fall where I wanted them, like Harden, Hinrich, ect.

Otherwise, very happy and like my team (except for Crawford and Smith.  Just can't root for me-first gunners).

NBA Discussion / This isn't for everyone, but ...
« on: October 15, 2010, 12:33:52 PM »
... the Sports Guy's newest NBA column is out.  He ranks teams 1-30 on the "Season Ticket Scale."  In other words, which is the most can't-miss team, and which one you wouldn't wanna see if there were strippers dancing next to the court (this stipulation may not apply to, say, someone like *Skander*).

BTW, I agree with him in one respect.  I will hunt down Kurt Rambis and run him over with a bus if he doesn't give more PT to Kevin Love this season.

NBA Discussion / Hakeem trains Dwight

I'm excited about this.  Big Dwight fan (my 2nd favorite player behind Duncan).

Howard's shown flashes of his offensive game over the past few years, but hopefully training with the Dream will give him some other go-to moves.  Too often, he bricks jump-hooks and shows the drop-step 50,000 times a game.

Good luck in Jersey, Anthony.  You're gonna need it.
